Lunch at The Thatched Cottage, Brockenhurst, with Martin Matysik

A beautiful sunny day greeted us for our drive through the New Forest to Martin Matysik's restaurant for lunch.

Again, the response to the light touch and subtle flavours that Martin creates were widely appreciated. The Wild Mushrooms with Monkfish Mousseline and Champagne Velouté and the Fillet of Halibut poached in Vanilla Sauce, served with Vine Tomato fondue, Aubergine Chips and Chives were winners. Then, in the height of summer, who could resist a Champagne and Rhubarb Cheesecake with Strawberry and Rhubarb Compote !
