Dinner at The Dew Pond Restaurant, Old Burghclere
Friday 6 October
The evening was most enjoyable and convivial. Maitre Rotisseur Keith Marshall provided us with a great dinner, both the Bream and Roedeer being first class. The team, led by Maitrisse de Table Julie, provided that great touch of good but discrete service.
It was a pleasure to welcome amongst our guests, Barbara Maw, Bailli of the Bailliage de Londres and Chris and Sue Bonsall from the IWFS.
Keith is a Cornishman with a love of fresh seafish. He trained in Guildford then worked in a number of major UK hotels including the Royal Bath at Bournemouth and the famous Lythe Hill in Hazelmere. The Marshalls bought the Dew Pond in 1989 and have since built an enviable reputation in Berkshire and Hampshire, winning many awards in the process. A Michelin Bib Restaurant now for over 10 years gives an idea of the quality and consistency of the cooking. Also Good Food Guide's 'Best Restaurant in Berkshire' on two occasions, plus consistently being given the GFG's award for the wine list.
